The Pipe hack :: At Banglore::January end.
This one was 2 months back in January end when we got washing machine. So as we(I,Ashin and Vamsi) cheap lazy bums are we got a semi automatic second hand videocon washing machine for 2k. But we didn't get pipe arrangement (funnel like thing which grips on) to connect to tap.The scence was so ridiculous that we manually filled water with buckets for the first day.
But the next day when I came, I was astonished to see the arrangement which Vamsi had.Truly creative. He didn't get a pipe , rather he took a polythene bag, cut a hole in it and wrapped it around the tap with a thick thread. It looked pretty cheap and wierd but it did serve the purpose and diverted the water to the washing machine tub.
Personally I thought that the hole cut in the polythene would grow over time and we would need to change the polythene. But to date we are using the same bag and the hole size hasn't increased much. One reason for it being that the water pressure actually gets distributed over the entire bag surface and effectively the flow is not that "foreceful".
Will add a pic of the arrangement for better understanding(Updated).Too end, I think it can be used a rescue hack.

The Female Header Hack:: At Home with Bhai :: Project UTEX
Well this dates back to 3 years back.Well my brother(Abizer Bhai) was making a project called UTEX which basically was a universal tester which could test most of the components available in the lab.Now then we didn't have that much know-about what all kind of headers are available in the market. What we came up with was extremely simple. We used multi-stranded copper "electrical wire" itself as a female holder.Huh?? Yeah but what we did is to enable inserting of the component leads we removed sme of the copper strands and the remaining ones we folded around the casing , which added additional strength to the structure(The plastic casing is kind of quite flexible) apart from giving additional surface for electrical contact. Also when we attached the header on to the UTEX casing, the glue "feviquick" which we used added even more rigidity.
Update :Crystal holders if tried using the normal headers possible, they don't fit well into them.Apart from that for SCR's the leads were pretty fat and hence there too the conventional ones couldn't be used.

Paper Resistor
I published this on Instructables.com .Its basically using pencil and paper to make a variable resistor.Find more about it here : PAPER RESISTOR.
An awesome application of the same I found on youtube today (13.04.2013) :http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j3b68vZQyIc
